High-speed DVD showreel production:
ULRIKE C. TSCHARRE (among other roles, also playing Marion Beimer on the LINDENSTRASSE soap opera) had the PLAN 1 Multimedia Center in Berlin produce an impressive showreel for her in late February. Thanks to precise project planning and the appropriate preparation, it was even finished in time to be included in Potsdam’s MAXMANAGEMENT agency canvassing campaign, even as the deadline was continually being pushed forward over the course of the production.
Be sure to now keep your eyes peeled for the soon-to-be-released web version of this extraordinary showreel.
Other showreels currently in the works: CHRISTIANE PAUL, INA WEISSE (both PLAYERS) and RALF BAUER.
Artistic direction and production management: Florian Baer,
Production assistant: Klaus Trapp

New audio books from Berlin:
It was nothing but a revolving door for JOSELINE GASSEN, ANNA THALBACH and FRANZISKA PIGULLA at PLAN 1 BERLIN earlier this year as they provided their talents in narrating a number of audio books in our “hallowed halls” under the direction of DICKY HANK. A proven approach and ideal acoustics certainly contributed to the successful wrap.

In the can: The mixes for the new album from Munich’s “LES BABACOOLS” are not only finished, but the analog tapes are already on their way to VLADO MELLER in NYC.
Validating Ralf Weigand’s work in mastering the band’s last two albums, they decided this time to have him do the entire mixing for all the titles on the new album.
After 3 weeks of hard work, all are anxiously awaiting news on the final polish Vlado Meller has in mind for the album: it was Ralf’s idea to recommend him because besides for working with bands such as LIMP BIZKIT or SYSTEM OF A DOWN, he has also mastered MILES DAVIS albums for producer legend TEO MACERO and was thus the natural first choice for audiophile crossover BABACOOLS.
Planned release through SPV: May 2005.
At the console: Ralf Weigand; Assistant: Philip Lewis

While showreels were being refined at the workstations, WERNER ZIMMERMANN from BLICKWERKE rented out the atmosphere-laden PLAN 1 Berlin studios to film an upcoming episode for the ARD show “W WIE WISSEN” entitled “Hirschhausen will´s wissen: Warum verursachen bestimmte Geräusche Gänsehaut?“ {“Hirschhausen wants to know: Why do certain noises give us goosebumps?”}.
The celebrated Neumann analog console along with the wooden interior seemed to shudder with each new item tested because, after all, those doing the testing simply had to “record” goosebumps!

“Definitely worth the wait!” the long-awaited album from PLAN 1’s band CRASH TOKIO finally hits the stores and blasts into cyberspace! And not just as your everyday CD either, but also as a special limited edition CD + DVD and for the true analog freaks among us even as a vinyl disc! The DVD contains 9 full-length videos of the lush individualistic visualizations of the songs plus, in addition to the stereo versions, all tracks can also be experienced in 5.1 Surround Sound (DolbyDigital or DTS). Producer Ralf Weigand and engineer Philip Lewis were absolutely floored when they heard the mixes in Surround sound: “Once you experience the openness, intimacy and transparency of 5.1 tracks, you’ll never want to go back to the compressed two-dimensionality of the stereo world!”
“We Are Plastic” thus most likely also takes the distinction of being the first studio album release of a German indie band on DVD in Surround sound.
Released by RAUFASER / TAPETE RECORDS, distributed through EDEL-CONTRAIRE. Extensive tour kicks off Nov. 27 with the BAVARIAN OPEN at Munich’s Bavarian broadcasting company (Bayerischer Rundfunk).

For online presentations already up and running, a Web Showreel can also be seamlessly integrated at any later point in time.

Ralf Weigand and the PLAN 1 crew were far from indifferent to the success of the NACHT DER FILMMUSIK held in the holy halls of Munich’s School of Music (Musikhochschule): Many weeks of preparation and planning were necessary to coordinate and orchestrate this event featuring more than 120 participants (Munich’s Symphony Orchestra, Klaus Doldinger, Wolfgang Lackerschmidt, Martin Böttcher, to name just a few) and included recording live for the “B4 KLASSIK” radio show.
“A resounding success…” was the unanimous consensus from the more than 1000 attendees, particularly praising the variety of the film music performed. And who could remain unmoved as Martin Böttcher himself conducted a large orchestra through his OLD SHATTERHAND melody or Gert Wilden’s enthusiasm as MUNICH SOUND TRAXX played their interpretation of his 70's SCHULMÄDCHEN-REPORT score?

NDW legend HUBERT KAH at PLAN 1: Producer MARKUS LÖHR, who together with HUBERT co-wrote many of the hit songs of the 80’s, paid a two-day visit to Munich to have Ralf Weigand mix the new “No Rain” single. And was immediately stopped in his tracks by the familiar, characteristic style of drummer Christian Aigner: he had recorded a demo a number of years back with the young Viennese talent who has, of course, since gone on to pounding success with DEPECHE MODE.

After the converting of Booth C to a Surround booth featuring a vintage MCI console went off without a hitch, the guys from Nuremberg’s jam band MARS MUSHROOMS will be the first to put it to good use as they record their new album here over the next few weeks. PLAN 1 engineer Philip Lewis hereby makes his own debut as producer, while the interview commentary from guitarist MIKE SCHMIDT speaks for itself: “The main draw is an unbelievably good sound, the second is an unbelievably great atmosphere here in the studio, and last but not least because of Philip Lewis, our head honcho...“
On the console: Philip Lewis, Assistants: Ron, Harry, Markus and Eric

Production of the audio version of MARIO ADORF’s “Himmel und Erde - Unordentliche Erinnerungen” {“Heaven and Earth Casual Memories”} for HÖRVERLAG {audio book publishers}. Way back in January of 1968, Mario Adorf filmed his first spaghetti western, “Amigos,” in Spain’s Almeria. Today, under the direction of ANGELA KÜBRICH and with Nicki Schuster behind the console, the international star regales the PLAN 1 Munich studios with the reading of his own autobiography.
